I don't want to seem all preachy or anything like that, but I will say this. And it's probably the rebellious pastor in me. It just blows my mind when I think about the freedom we have in Christ. I see people all the time preaching and trying to tell other people, "If you do this, you're going to hell." Or trying to say that if you wear a certain type of clothes, or if your hair is a certain length, or if you don't watch or listen to certain things, or if you don't associate with certain types of people, God will be pleased with you. That you'll win brownie points with Him or something like that.
I'm going to dispell all that crap right here and right now.
When Christ died on the cross, we were granted freedom. Freedom from sin, freedom from legalism, freedom from our bondage that kept us from God.
Here's the thing. If you think tha by being all nice to people, and going to church on sunday, and giving money, and doin' all that "churchy stuff" you're somehow going to make it to heaven on that, you are sadly mistaken.
The God that I worship, and the bible that I read, tell me that trying to win our salvation through good deeds is not only useless, it is stupid. God doesn't want our empty ritual. He wants our hearts.
He wants us to love one another as we love ourselves, and to love Him with everything we are. That's it!
If we love God, then we will love each other, and if we love each other doing good things for each other will just naturally come.
Don't think that by sacrificing things and time for good deeds that you'll get anywhere. You won't. The bible says, "I desire mercy, not sacrifice."
Meaning; The way we act toward others and Him is what truly matters to God.
Never forget guys, that Jesus hung out with the scum of his time. Drunks, hookers, taxcollectors, real low-lifes. But he loved them, and spent time with them, not to show off, or to make himself look charitable. No. He did this because He loved them. As should we.
In the words of our great founding fathers; "Live free or die."
That applies in our Christian life as well.
That's all I have to say about that.
God Bless ya'll | | |
| So here's the deal. I am so sick of working for churches it's not even funny! I mean seriously, my experience with working for churches has been mostly overworking, busy work, and verbal abuse combined with severe nit-picking!
These people are driving me nuts! I wish they would leave me alone and let me do my freakin' job!
| I'm giving serious thought to ditchin' this whole xanga thing. It kinda sucks in comparison to myspace.
Anyway, before that though everyone needs to check out the myspace for my new band "Heritage."
It's www.myspace.com/heritagerock, go check it out, we've got some tunes posted as well as some pics and the dates and times of our first two shows.
EVERYONE should come to these shows and give it up for some good, old fashioned, southern rock 'n roll! There's nothin' like it.

| The naivity of some people just astounds me. It just absolutely amazes me what people take from someones mouth as gospel truth. It really does. It is no wonder to me that the original church had such a problems with people being led astray by false prophets.
I mean my God, look at people today. Go to a conference where Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer, or Joel Osteen are preaching, people are frothing at the mouth to hear what these people have to say. It's sickening, and it's sad.
I'm going to say this once, and I can say this because I have been there, and I've been through it;
No one, and I mean NO ONE can tell you what you should or shouldn't believe in but God. And NO ONE has the right to try and derail you from the true path God has set before you.
If there is one thing I have learned in my life, with all my running, and moving from one place or job, or ministry to another; Be Content where you are. If you have started something, for the love of God, FINISH IT.
Do not let yourselves be crucified on the same cross that I hung myself on, the Cross of "What's Next?"
Be content where you are, and stay the course.
And most of all, don't just pray about a decision, THINK about it, talk about it with people that aren't envolved in the issue, accept the advice and concerns of your brothers and sisters in Christ. If a decision isn't lining up, leave it alone. Walk away.
That's my thoughts anyway.
